Hadith El Horuof - A Conversation of Letters

With masterful craftsmanship, designers of the twentieth century carved a new path in Arabic lettering. Lettering from the 1940s to the 1980s remained closely tied to calligraphic styles, even as it broke traditional rules. With or without strokes, rounded or edged, textured or plain, designers became noticeably bolder in their expression by the 1950s. This playfulness, if we must call it that, contributed to an influential layer of expressiveness during the period. This book archives over 350 letterings from 1952 to 1976, with the aim of inspiring contemporary Arabic type designers.
