Habashtakanat Issue #2

An unusual magazine about Cairene opinions.

It’s Lama Ahmed’s way of making sense of Cairo’s chaos. Habashtakanat slowly became what it was set out to be: a documentation of the visible and an exploration of its hidden meaning. The first issue centered on a small portion of what one might usually see in its streets: the makeshift solutions people resort to when facing any obstacle. In the second issue, the focus shifts to the people and how Cairo is recreated through each person Lama meets. Each issue is a jungle of words and photographs encapsulating living, being, grieving and commuting in the city.
